US Senate Committee’s January 31st Hearing on Child Exploitation and Sextortion

Next week, the Senate Judiciary Committee, will hold a hearing on online child sexual exploitation with leaders of major platforms: META, X, TikTok, Snap and Discord.

Reports of online child sexual exploitation increased 35% in 2021 from 2020, according to new data released by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The Center also reported a 329% increase in child sexual abuse material files reported in the last five years.

In the State of Ohio alone, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force reports cases grew from 650 cybertips in 2009 to 12,000 in 2022.
